Most of what leaves this bench was made for someone.

A commission is not a customisation menu. You describe what you carry and how you carry it; the piece is drawn, you choose the individual hide it will be cut from, and then it is cut and stitched by one pair of hands over ten to twelve weeks.

Commissions begin at $400. Handbags begin at $2,000.

How it works

  1. The conversation. What the piece is for, what you have carried before, and what failed about it. Sketches and dimensions come back to you.
  2. The skin. You select an individual hide, not a material from a list — Alran, Tanneries Haas, Weinheimer Leder, Fontanella, or another source if the project calls for it. Every skin in current stock is photographed; you choose the one your piece is cut from.
  3. The build. Ten to twelve weeks, photographed as it goes, so you see your piece take shape.

Every commission is quoted individually, but none begin below these:

Terms

  • Deposit. A non-refundable 50% deposit begins the work. The balance is due in full on completion, before the piece ships.
  • Lead time. Currently ten to twelve weeks. Commissions are open year-round; the queue moves with the bench, and your dates are confirmed when the deposit is placed.
  • Shipping. Priority shipping is included in the price of every piece — USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL. Expedited services on request, at the cost of the service.
  • Returns. Commissioned pieces are final sale. Finished pieces bought from stock carry 7 days for a fault missed at inspection.
  • Enquiries. Read and answered personally, within 24 hours.

Materials

House leathers come from a short list of tanneries: Alran in France for chèvre, Tanneries Haas in France for Baranil and Novonappa calf, Weinheimer Leder in Germany for box calf, and Fontanella in Italy. Others are used where a project calls for it.

Exotic skins — alligator, ostrich, python, ring lizard — are sourced per piece and travel with their CITES documentation.
