01 — The house
Japanese heritage, made by hand
Maison Kuro — or simply Kuro — is a luxury atelier of handmade leather goods founded in 2020, blending Japanese culture and history with the art of handmade craftsmanship. Each design reflects a fusion of contemporary streetwear and timeless high fashion: intricate patterns drawn from traditional motifs, and quiet nods to Japan's natural landscape.
02 — The making
One artisan, start to finish
Every Kuro piece is cut, stitched and finished by a single master artisan. There is no line, no team, and nothing is sent out. Saddle-stitching by hand takes longer than a machine and does not unravel when a thread breaks. Edges are built and burnished over several passes. Skins are chosen one at a time, ethically sourced, and cut so the pattern falls where it should.
Because of that, quantities are limited by hours in the day rather than by marketing. Owning a Kuro piece is a matter of individuality, not availability.
03 — 2025
Bespoke Japanese selvedge denim
In 2025 Kuro opened a new chapter with fully bespoke denim, cut from authentic Japanese selvedge by Collect Denim Heads. Each pair is made to measure on shuttle-loomed fabric — the client dictates colour, weight, selvedge finish, hardware, and whether it leaves raw or one-washed. Sewn by the same hands as the leather, one stitch at a time.
